Defence Forces Wellness Center (DFWC)

Located within Langata Barracks in Nairobi, the Defence Forces Wellness Center (DFWC) is a dedicated, one-stop wellness and rehabilitation facility designed to support the holistic health of Kenya Defence Forces personnel and their families. The centre delivers integrated physical, mental, and psychosocial care, addressing the evolving welfare needs of the military community, especially for service members returning from operations.

Comprehensive, Soldier-Centred Care

DFWC provides a wide range of specialized services focused on recovery, resilience, and long-term wellbeing. These include physical rehabilitation such as orthopaedics, prosthetics, and eye care, alongside neurological and mental health support. The facility is equipped to manage service-related conditions, disabilities, and rehabilitation needs in a supportive and secure environment.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

With a strong emphasis on mental wellness, the centre brings together a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. This team offers professional care for operational stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and related challenges, ensuring comprehensive support for both individuals and their families.

Family and Community Support

Care at the Defence Forces Wellness Center extends beyond service members to include families, with tailored support for special needs and rehabilitation. The centre works in collaboration with partners such as the Military Wives Association of Kenya to strengthen family wellbeing and community resilience.

The Defence Forces Wellness Center exists to safeguard the physical and mental wellbeing of KDF personnel, provide essential rehabilitative care for those injured in active service, and build a strong, sustainable welfare framework for the entire military community.
