ULINZI HEALTH SERVICES FUND DELEGATION UNDERTAKES BENCHMARKING VISIT TO UWEZO FUND

Ulinzi Health Services Fund (UHSF) today undertook a benchmarking and institutional learning engagement with Uwezo Fund, aimed at gaining insights and best practices to strengthen the Fund’s management, systems, processes and delivery of its core mandate of providing quality health services to its clientele.

The delegation, from the Ministry of Defence and led by Brigadier (Dr.) A. Odhiambo, Managing Director, Ulinzi Health Services Fund, was warmly received by Mr. Peter L. Lengapiani, MBS Head of Secretariat, who welcomed the delegation and facilitated fruitful discussions on areas of mutual institutional interest.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the two institutions, both established as Government funds, to share their institutional journeys, mandates, experiences and approaches to service delivery. The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including financial management and sustainable financing, human resource management and HR instruments, ICT and digital systems, debt management, business development, institutional capacity building, and strengthening of systems and processes.

The benchmarking engagement provided UHSF with valuable insights into approaches that can be adapted to enhance institutional efficiency, accountability and sustainability while supporting the Fund in better delivering on its mandate of providing quality and accessible healthcare services.

The two institutions also explored potential areas of collaboration, including joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, community health sensitisation and empowerment programmes. Discussions further highlighted opportunities for continued institutional learning and knowledge sharing between the two Government funds.

As an outcome of the engagement, the institutions proposed the establishment of a Joint Technical Working Team to assess and advance the identified areas of collaboration and follow up on the lessons and opportunities arising from the benchmarking exercise.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to institutional learning, strategic partnerships, continuous improvement and stronger Government collaboration, with the shared objective of enhancing service delivery and achieving better outcomes for the communities they serve.

For UHSF, the benchmarking visit forms part of the Fund’s commitment to continuously learn, innovate and strengthen its systems and management practices in support of its mandate to deliver quality health services to its clientele.
